LITE Conceived as a restaurant in Gerald Maffei's studio at Texas A&M, LITE is about how to use light to shape interior space and human experience. Fabric diffusers are suspended from skylights at each table to illuminate the space during the day. At night, artificial light emanates from the floor and from a fixture embedded in each table's surface. The floor is white oak and the walls are white plaster. The light is the main architectural component.
